🔴 Demand from potential voters for goods or money that need to be met
🔴Logistical expenses to move voters to their constituencies
🔴Campaign tours
Individual candidates have to bear these costs, often tapping into personal savings or business proceeds to raise the resources required. This leads to exclusion of structurally disadvantaged groups from running for office and leads to corruption.
